Minutes
August 18, 2011
Meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m.
Present were: Chief Ledbetter, Bill Morrison, Dr. Nafziger, Councilman Plant and Chief Sivley
Mayor Melton was in another meeting, John Griscom was not in attendance.
There were no guests present
Chief Ledbetter made a motion to approve the May 19, 201 minutes, motion was seconded by
Irving Nash and the motion carried unanimously.
OLD BUSINESS:
(a) No Parking Zone On Cherokee Dr. The problem of children running from behind
parked cars across the street to the park was discussed. There have been several instances where
young children going to the park have almost been struck after running into the street from behind
parked cars. A recommendation for a no parking zone on the east side of Cherokee Drive from Hwy 11
to Mohawk Drive was made. Chief Ledbetter made the motion which was seconded by Mr. Bill Morrison.
the motion carried with a unanimous vote. A recommendation will be drafted for the City council to
approve a No Parking Zone as described above.
(a) A request for a four way stop sign at the intersection of Longmeadow Drive and Longmeadow Way
was discussed. A traffic survey is in process so there was no recommendation made at this time.
(b) A No U-Turn sign has been requested at the intersection of Chalkville Mt. Road South bound at the
intersection of Service Road. This request was discussed and carried over for further discussion,
investigation and review.
(c) The timing of the traffic signals on Chalkville Mt Road was discussed. these signals are maintained by
Jefferson County DOT. Mr. Simpson and the Mayor will be contacted to see if the timing of the lights
can be reviewed and adjusted.
meeting however a conflict in dates resulted in a request for a date change. Motion to approve was made
by Chief Ledbetter and seconded by Dr. Nafziger. The motion carried unanimously.
